Proudly serving Signal Mountain, Chattanooga’s elevated retreat blending historic charm with breathtaking ridge-top views!
Perched on the southern end of Walden Ridge in the Cumberland Plateau, Signal Mountain’s story begins long before its settlement, with Signal Point serving as a vantage for smoke signals across the Tennessee Valley. In the late 1800s, amid cholera and yellow fever outbreaks in Chattanooga (1873 and 1878), affluent families sought refuge on the mountain’s cool heights and pure springs. Developer C.E. James seized the moment, buying land around Signal Point and selling parcels for summer homes; by 1913, he’d added the grand Signal Mountain Inn and a 12-mile streetcar line linking to the city below. Incorporated on April 4, 1919, the town quickly grew into a year-round haven, with over 200 homes by 1925.
Today, this residential gem offers sweeping vistas of the Tennessee River Gorge, miles of hiking trails like the Cumberland Trail, and easy access to waterfalls and wildflowers. Neighborhoods like the Historic District (with preserved trolley tracks on James Boulevard), Signal Forest, and modern enclaves such as Flipper Bend and Grey Hawk Trails mix stately period homes with contemporary builds—all just 10-15 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.
